Do not train a child to learn by force or harshness; but direct them to it by what amuses their minds, so that you may be better able to discover with accuracy the peculiar bent of the genius of each - Plato

Hiya, I'm Lea!

Born and raised in Zug, I previously lived in London where I completed my university education and worked at an academic agency. I moved back to Switzerland shortly before the pandemic and haven’t left since! Since my return, I have been working as academic support individual and freelance tutor for the international community in Zug.

I specialize in supporting neurodivergent students. You may ask yourself why – that’s quite a specific field for a tutor. The answer is very simple – I’m neurodivergent. I was diagnosed with neurodivergence and learning differences in my youth and grew up with a sibling that has severe ADHD and an almost debilitating learning difference. The only reason I made it out of the school system alive was because I had a doting tutor that led the way. I endeavor to provide students with the same empathetic and detail-oriented support to help them excel.

Little Lea never thought she’d make it out of high school, let alone eventually complete a PhD in Literature. Look at her now!

I provide students that seek academic support in the following areas: improving processing speed and working memory, developing multi-step instruction understanding, abstract reasoning and time management skills. In the past I have worked with students that have delayed speech and language development, dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyspraxia and ones that exhibited avoidant behaviors or difficulty transitioning. I often collaborate with relevant psychologist and psychiatrists, as well as teachers and other school staff to provide my students with the best possible support and learning environment.
Cheers, Lea

ACADEMIC SUPPORT
Academic support can involve tutoring but doesn’t exclusively revolve around this. This type of support is tailored to each student and involves creating a bespoke support plan to best support the student’s problem areas while setting reasonable goals and outcomes. In the past, these sessions have included: homework support, creating ADHD coping strategies, developing time-management and planning skills, acting as supervisory presence for independent work.
TUTORING
Students that attend tutoring classes are provided with the same care and attention as those that receive academic support. The lessons focus on identified weaknesses and are resolved through tailored lessons. These lessons can include relevant worksheets that foster work ethic through consistent practice and positive reinforcement, as well as other bespoke materials. The lesson plan is made in collboration with school teachers and semester reports.
